Walnut: Venice Modern Farmhouse
This farmhouse project started as a tear-down. We collaborated with an architect to design the floor plans from the ground up and then specified every detail for our construction team to implement and install. We leaned heavily into traditional farmhouse features like the board & batten exterior with cedar shingles but played it up a bit with sand-finished stucco, a black metal roof, and a mix of modern and gooseneck light fixtures decorating a custom garage door. Natural oak engineered hardwood floors throughout contrast the unique concrete fireplace. But you're made to feel cozy in every corner with features like the shiplap accent wall in the formal dining room. The gorgeous soapstone waterfall island and eye-catching Calacatta backsplash are perhaps the most memorable details in the kitchen. But the breakfast nook with built-in storage benches, modern appliances, and butler’s pantry tie together a luxurious and functional space.
My goal is always to deliver something that feels fresh and elevated from the norm. Horizontal shiplap, but paint it black. Gooseneck lights, but make them sexy. Open shelving, but accented by a brass range hood. I always want to go beyond the ordinary.
